KOOP RADIO 3Oth ANNIVERSARY DESIGN
Project Background
As a KOOP station-certified programmer, I was tasked with creating a visual treatment to celebrate the station’s 30th anniversary.
Conceptual Approach
The graphic's creation was guided by the core concept of "amplifying our community voices." This idea celebrates community radio's role as a platform where diverse voices—from individuals and even the environment—come together to be heard.
Visual Approach
The visual execution uses playful, duotone illustrations of people and animals, each with a microphone in place of a head, symbolizing how every voice plays a vital role in the community's collective story while reflecting the vibrant, eclectic essence of Austin community radio. It
Color Palette
The color palette is pulled directly from KOOP’s brand guidelines. However, the dual-tone color palette aims to eliminate distractions of multiple colors, focusing the attention on the characters.
Typography
The typography features a hand-drawn, organic style that complements the playful and inclusive illustrations. Its imperfect and humanistic qualities reflect the community radio's authentic grassroots nature.
Graphic Elements
The graphic elements in the design are a vibrant mix of whimsical illustrations uniquely depicted with a microphone as its head, symbolizing that every voice — human, animal, or environmental — contributes to the community's collective story.
